Specialist Seating Bariatric Chair The Bariatric chair has a range of features, benefits, and optional extras to make sure you get the right chair that meets your needs and requirements. Talk To An Expert Heavy Duty Rise Recliner Features The Bariatric plus-sized chairs are suitable for either a health or home environment. They offer clients' and carers movement options that support good posture, pressure management, and independent living. The range of mechanisms is ideal for those clients: who are unable to independently shift their weight either in a reclined or seated position. with poor skin integrity where there is a high risk of skin breakdown. with complex needs that require carer support to change position without putting their own health at risk whilst carrying out positional changes. Mechanisms Waterfall Cushion Back Blockers Pressure Management Chaise Cover Mechanisms The Bariatric range comes with the option of choosing one of the following mechanisms: Single motor 3 way Single motor tilt in space Dual motor tilt in space Standard dual motor Always ensure that the weight limits are checked for the client and particularly for conditions such as Lymphedema or Oedema. Waterfall Cushion Depending on the model chosen there will be either a fixed or removable three-tiered waterfall back cushion. With the three removable and replaceable waterfall cushions they can be repositioned enabling the user to be seated and their posture supported correctly to meet their individual needs. The comfort and postural options are further enhanced with the ability to adjust the firmness of each individual cushion by adding or taking away fibres. Back Blockers On some of the models back blockers come as standard, on others they are available as an optional accessory. At the back of the waterfall cushions, sleeves can be fitted to accommodate the blockers to provide additional postural support. The position of each back cushion can be adapted with blockers to adjust the shape and support for the specific needs of each user. Blockers are provided as standard. Pressure Management There is a choice of 5 interchangeable seat cushions each with different pressure management features. You can purchase one or more cushions to support the different needs of individuals who may use this chair. Cushions and covers are removable for cleaning. With all these seat cushions we recommend a fabric with four way stretch properties to aid reduction of shear and friction. See Seat Cushion Section for details of the individual cushions. Chaise Cover The Bariatric chairs benefit from a single, full seat cover. This chaise reduces the risk of pressure areas developing due to pinch points and shear and friction when the chair reclines. Designed with a memory foam insert the chaise offers deep comfort. The chaise cover and memory foam can be removed for cleaning and replacement. Optional memory foam or gel seating for added comfort and pressure management. We offer the full range from soft and firm quality Reflex foam, to our specialist care cushions. If you need a little more support from your seat cushion, perhaps if you sit for long periods in your chair, do consider our specialist seat cushions. For ultimate comfort at the heart of your chair, we can also build in our Luxury Pocket Sprung Cushion. Designed with individual high tensile steel coil springs in individual pockets, the springs give consistent support throughout the life of the chair and lasting shape to the seat cushion. Standard Comfort Seating Easiform For standard seating, our softest foam cushion with high quality Reflex foam filler for gentle comfort. Firmaform A cushion that provides a more supportive and firm seat with a high-quality filler from Reflex, the foam specialists. Specialist Seating Viscoform For those who have good posture and mobility but are seated for greater than one hour at a time and require pressure relief and supported comfort. This cushion has a high-density foam base which offers a supportive and firm seat base with a top layer of memory foam to allow immersion into the cushion, giving stability and a large surface area to reduce pressure levels. Celliform This cushion uses our unique Gelacell matrix which distributes pressure and promotes air flow keeping the chair fresher and cooler. Coolform For those sitting for long periods with specific comfort issues such as a high risk of pressure sores. This cushion uses the latest medical grade silicone gel technology allowing pressure to be evenly distributed. The gel conforms to the shape of the body and equalises to body temperature. The gel cells allow air to flow easily and Coolform is totally odourless and hypoallergenic. Headrests Cushions There is a choice of 4 detachable headrests all attached with a velcro tab Head Roll The head roll is useful to reduce depth for anyone with reduced neck extension or needing to keep their head in a neutral position for tasks such as eating or drinking whilst maximising comfort and reducing effort. Small Head Pillow The small head pillow provides additional comfort for those who may require a softer surface to rest on whilst stopping hyper-extension at the neck when reclined or tilted. Small Profile Headrest Similar to the large profile headrest but support is focused more on the head and neck. Midline Headrest The midline headrest provides postural support for those with some form of midline deficit, following a stroke resulting in proprioceptive deficit or unilateral neglect for example.
